Prepare To Celebrate & Read

Can you guess who has a birthday this week?   HINT:  It’s not a moose or a goose or a footloose masseuse…

That’s right… It’s Dr. Seuss!

For the past 14 years, the National Education Association (NEA) has used Dr. Seuss’ birthday as the inspiration for Read Across America, an event with one mission:  to celebrate reading with young people.

Last year, Read Across America events drew 45 million participants.  This year’s nationwide “read-in” is set for March 2nd.  Schools, libraries and communities across the nation will sit down for storytime to support literacy and a love for reading.  For more info, visit where you’ll find resource pages for teachers, fun activities, games and lots more.  Be sure to visit Seussville, a place filled with fun ways to celebrate reading with kids.

“It’s never too early to read to your child, and Dr. Seuss is the perfect starting point for every reader, from the smallest to the tallest.” -Seussville
