Marshmallow Mondays

Orange, PA Friends, & Dad

What an exciting few days we’ve had!  Last Thursday, Rydan experienced his second belt test at Taekwondo America.  We were once again so proud of him for the hard work he’s been putting in each week at his lessons.  His awards ceremony is tomorrow evening, where he will officially receive his orange belt.  Photos of the ceremony will be posted on Marshmallow Mondays’ Facebook Page.  In the meantime, visit us on Facebook to see video of Rydan in action during his belt test. You can also see photos below.

Pre-test. Love these kiddos so much!

Patiently waiting his turn.

Look at that form.

That evening, we had some Pennsylvania visitors, our good friends Tony and Amanda.  It was so wonderful to see some familiar faces from home.  We enjoyed dinner at Cheddar’s and then some fun and relaxation at our home.  Thank you Tony and Amanda for making a stop in Lexington on your road trip!  We loved your company.

I love Lexington, but there’s nothing like my Pennsylvania friends.

Tony wanted so badly to play with and hold Lily, but she wasn’t quite too sure of him.

Relaxing with Amanda.

By the next morning, Lily realized how much fun Tony could be.

Morning storytime with Amanda.

We ended our busy weekend with Father’s Day, and surprised Ryan with lots of special gifts from Rydan and Lily, including two new work shirts, a Harley Davidson keychain, a new pillow, white t-shirts, and a few other more personal gifts from each of them.  All week long, I tried to teach Lily to say “Happy Father’s Day.”  She had a bit of trouble with the word “father,” so yesterday morning when she first saw Ryan, her words came out “Happy Happy Day.”  Gotta love her for trying.  That little voice alone is enough to melt anyone’s heart.  Since it rained on and off all day, we simply hung out at home together and relaxed.  And like Mother’s Day, we paid a visit to Orange Leaf and took advantage of five ounces free for all dads.

Below is a picture of one of the more personal Father’s Day gifts from Rydan.  He filled out a questionnaire about Ryan, which I did not help him with at all.  He did pretty well!

Wow! I never knew the big guy liked Apple Pie so much! We’ll have to get one when he’s in town!

I loved all the pictures, and the paper Rydan completed was my favorite; along with the second picture of Lily and Tony. Its looks like it was a weekend full of smiles!

[…] -Arrived in Lexington, KY about 6pm.  We met Bridgit and her family for dinner, and hung out at their house that night.  You can read Bridgit’s blog post and see more pictures here: marshmallowmondays.wordpress.com/2012/06/18/orange-pa-friends-dad/ […]
