Marshmallow Mondays

Sesame Street

“Mommy, Elmo! Elmo! Elmo!”

That’s what I heard over and over and OVER again on Saturday morning.  But, I loved every second of it.  Courtesy of my super thoughtful and loving husband, Lily and I went on a Mommy Daughter Date to Sesame Street Live at Rupp Arena.  We were true VIP’s, with admission 90 minutes before the show for a photo opportunity with Elmo and Cookie Monster, and exclusive reign over the Play Zone for 30 minutes.  Lily wasn’t quite sure what was going on at first, and the sight of a life-sized Elmo and Cookie Monster definitely scared her a bit, but she was still in complete awe at the sight of her beloved Elmo.

The fear is pretty obvious on her face, but she did warm up after a few minutes. This picture was taken literally minutes after we arrived, so she hadn’t had enough time to get comfortable.

Pre-show Play Zone. Still unsure, but the sight of a smaller Abby Cadabby was a bit of a relief.

The VIP treatment continued when we ventured to our seats and found ourselves in the second row from the stage.  Lily had a clear view of the entire show.  She sat on my lap the entire time, completely mesmerized by what was happening right in front of her.  My lap definitely got a workout with all of the bouncing up and down she did throughout the show, which was called “Can’t Stop Singing.”  All of that music, singing and dancing was right up her alley.  Elmo even stopped by at one point to pat Lily on the head!  What a big moment for her.

The show begins! First sight of Elmo on stage.

Mommy: “Time to go buh-bye. Are you ready?”
Lily: “Over? No. No. Mommy, No.”
