By now, you all know that we make an annual family outing on Black  Friday.  NOT to shop, but to cut down a Christmas tree.  This was our second visit to Barker’s Christmas Tree Farm since living in Kentucky, and what a beautiful day it was for cutting down a tree.  It took less than 30 minutes for us to find “the one,” and for the first time ever, it fit into the house without Ryan having to cut some off the top or bottom.

Searching for our picture from last year. This was harder than we thought, but Rydan found it first.

We didn’t end up decorating until close to 9pm that night because half of our lights from last year didn’t work.  So after making a quick run to the store for more, stringing them on the tree and getting Ryan’s approval that we indeed had enough lights hung, I then sat down with a needle and thread to work on our extra special decorations… marshmallow garland.  After nearly two hours and sticky hands, our marshmallow snowball garland was on the tree and the kids were able to hang the rest of the ornaments – candy canes, blue glittery snowmen, snowflakes and red balls.

Our second tree is our artificial one, which we set up in our bedroom.  Nothing beats reading a good book under the covers with the Christmas tree lit up.  This one is a little more formal looking with red felt snowflakes, gold-dipped ornaments that I made myself, and some black ornaments.
