Candy House

After 6 years of gingerbread houses, this was our best yet.

As always, Santa brought us a “candy house,” as Rydan calls them, for Christmas this year.  We enjoy this post-holiday family activity after the craziness is gone, and we’ve settled back into our normal routines.  In previous years, we have struggled quite a bit with the assembly of the house.  The roof always slides off, the icing doesn’t seem to stay put, and our house ends up looking pretty sad.

This year, however, the whole process was much smoother, and seemed to work the way it’s supposed to.  It also helps if you assemble the house while one child is napping and the other is outside playing, which allows it to fully dry.  I think we’ve finally learned not to skip this step, or maybe we just weren’t persuaded by antsy kids to start decorating before the house is dry.  Santa even brought us extra candy to decorate the house, and to eat of course too.
